10,000 km Heading to Nanaimo!

10,000 km!! We passed the mark on the way to Nanaimo. We're driving through Chilliwack here...look at how green it is! Hard to believe it's the end of November!

We're bypassing Vancouver, but it's only 70 km away!

We took a quick detour into Fort Langley, which had a beautiful Christmas tree in front of the community centre. Fort Langley is where the Hudson's Bay Company established a small post to trade with the First Nations of the West Coast.

We're heading into the ferry terminal at Horseshoe Bay which will take us to Nanaimo on Vancouver Island.

A nice guy gave his window seat to us when he saw me trying to take pictures around him. "Tourists!" Here is another ferry going by us.

Beautiful crossing. It takes 95 minutes...

Jim made the best use of his time!

We were really looking forward to spending a few days in one place. It was definitely time to do laundry and to get out of the car for a while!

This looks like the leaning tower of Pisa...

We went for a walk near our hotel. Once again, a beautiful morning. We are right across from one of the marinas...

The walkway goes downtown and around the sea plane base.

The design was really well thought out...

Well-used sea plane dock...

Look how green it is! They were mowing the grass behind me...

These grasses look so soft and puffy!

We ate at a Mexican restaurant called Gina's. It was described as tacky and with the abundance of sequined sombreros and Christmas lights inside, maybe it was...but it was great food and lots of atmosphere!

We headed to Coombs to the country market where goats reside on the roof much to the amusement of the tourists. However, after driving there, we found out that is only in the summer. Curses! No goats!

The most amazing bakery...we shared a cinnamon bun the size of a small car! I shudder to think of the points value of that treat!

We stayed at the Buccaneer Hotel and were really happy to have a bit of space to spread out our stuff and chill!

It's on to Tofino and Ucluelet...as far west as we can go! We've arrived!!
